  • Pretty Damn Crude (Oil)

     

    Look at the cost of crude per barrel. The average cost now in 2009 is $36 a barrel and gas is over $2.50 a gal. The cost of crude a barrel in '83 was $34 and gas was under a  buck a gal. Government sanctioned price gouging of the American people?

    This site shows crude price averages from 1970-2009 and notice it is a GOV site, not some paranoid conspiracy theory site. Compare the crude price and then think what you paid per gal for gas at the time.
     
    Remember that when crude hit the record at $147, the oil companies were posting the HIGHEST earnings per quarter in the history of their existence yet day after day claimed the high prices for gas was because of what they had to pay for crude.Do they really think that the American people are so blind as to believe they charged themselves $147 per barrel for oil from their own wells in the US?
     
    It is estimated that over 800 billion dollars will leave US shores to oil producing countries by the end of 2009 and our own oil companies,with the ok of the feds, is making it happen so they get their share.
     
    Electric cars? Hydrogen fuel cells? Renewable methane powered cars? Yeah, they have the tech to make them, they even show them off at shows,but you won't see them except as a rich person's toy (check the price on some of the electric models).
     
    As long as the US government is controlled by the oil lobby, the price gouging of the oil companies and allow the arab oil garrot to tighten around the throat of America,We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence,will remain owned to maintain a profit margin for big oil and foreign interests.
